Yellowish Thing On A Cap
« on: 21 Feb 2007, 05:53 pm »
Hi! I've finally got a screwdriver with a square tip to unscrew the top plate of my 14B ST which I bought second-hand months ago. Everything looked great except one of the electrolytic filter caps which was with a thin layer of thick dark yellowish liquid on the top and 3 short dried drip trails of such liquid on the side... I removed them completely with dried paper. Now it looks like new! :)

I'm wondering if the yellowish thing is something spilled over on the cap or it leaked from the cap. Any idea? Should I bring it to an authorised Bryston dealer for inspection? FYI, the amp does sound gorgeous albeit with the "problem"! :P

Thanks for your feedbacks in advance!

"It's the slime oozing out
from your electrolytic filter cap"

sounds like its not a good thing to me - I'm sure a certain percentage of caps will have a defect....
