I was reading a review of the SP2 and the reviewer noted that he had listened to vinyl through the 5.1 analogue output and was very impressed.  I was hoping to get a few LP's out of the attic but I presumed I would need a phono stage also.  Has anyone else played vinyl direct through their Bryston?  I would be interested in your results/thoughts.

I do play vinyl on occassion, ok rarely on my SP 1.7. Just don't listen to Vinyl all that often. I use an Aragon 47K phono stage (don't shoot me - had this before the SP 1.7).  However I use the 2 ch bypass input and not the 5.1 analogue input (I assume that is what you meant).  If you don't have full range Fronts, you will loose bass management in the 2 ch bypass mode.  However, you can regain your bass management if you listen in the non by pass mode but then the signal gets processed.
