Hey occam... i just wanted to say thank you for your amplifier upgrade advice, I did pretty much everything you suggested and a couple more bits here and there and the result was..... ..... wait for it...... OUTSTANDING!

I spend $110 aust on bits and bobs and i have enough spare parts to do another amp due to extra's in each packet. The sound stage has really opened up considerably... and its only been playing for a couple hours-

The highs are so much more detailed and the bass tighter and its like the speakers no longer exist the sound just does now and its like its not from any real source... pretty fantastic!

So once again thank you very much - if your ever in western australia let me know so i can demonstrate the system and buy you a beer!

Werticus,

I'm very pleased that I've been some help. Upgrading doesn't always require the use of expensive 'boutique' parts. Often a careful understanding of the schematic and where appropriate, the use of standard industrial components of high quality can yeild substantial improvements at minimal cost.

Congrats on the sucessful mod!

Regards,
Occam

Thankyou :)

Now the mod as been in place for a couple of weeks and has broken in most of the way I would say...

It sounds sweeter every time i listen to it.... quiet a substantial improvment for $200au in parts I would say!  I could use some typical audiophile type words to describe whats better but suffice to say 'all of them' apply!

:)
