I just finally checked out their site.  Anyone have any of their recordings?  Recommendations?  I think I may try a couple samplers.

Max,

They sound GREAT. Check out one of their Samplers to start. It will be a cheaper investment. I remember a great Handel release in HDCD with a black label. I think it was horn concertos. Don't remember.

Good luck,
Bill

Rutter's Requiem is divine on that label.  IMO the best performance of all recorded CD versions.  I have them all. . .

Also, check out Eji Que. . .

...sonically, but maybe not musically. They tend to work with artists that are good but not great.

Kind of like Mapleshade, huh?

NO. . . Not at all like Mapleshade.

In fact, I disagree with that statement.  I mean, the Cambridge Singers?  Turtle Creek?  Minnesota Symphony?  These aren't lightweights, and I have never heard them give a bad performance on a RR.

Perhaps you have some different ones. . .

It's important that we support RR.  They were going through some really hard financial times recently, and it's our responsibility to support them.

I didn't mean to imply that the artists are bad... In my experience I would describe the performances I've heard (which are not many--I only own the 'Fanfare for the Common Man' CD) as 'competent'.
I've just found that for me, buying CD's because of sonics rather than artists becomes frustrating after the initial listening. This isn't to say that there's no artistic merit, jut that my interests lie elsewhere... YMMV, as always.
