Why is the 440 AT Cart so cheap?

I noticed that this cart regularly sells for half price or less of MSRP...does anyone know why that is?

Don't argue the gift :wink:....it's been priced well under $100 for about 4 years and two versions of the cartridge now.

They are probably the largest maker of cartridges and needles on earth and they can do it thru economies of scale other makers lack.
