upgrade 3bst to 2bsst?
« on: 8 Feb 2007, 05:45 pm »
Hello, I posted a similar question on audiogon, but figured I may find some more knowledgable people here. I have a 3bst currently that is about 6 years old. I am very happy with it overall. The one exception is the higher frequencies. The highs sound a bit bright to me and not quite smooth enough. I am more than pleased with the bass and midrange. Would the 2bsst sound smoother in the highs? I see there is a C series- is that different than the regular sst? I am considering another brand, but don't want to lose what I like about the bryston brand. THanks.

Having had two different 3 B ST's and now a 3B SST, I agree with your evaluation of the ST series-it bothered me enough that, although I liked what they did elsewhere, that slight brightness made the sound appear slight lean.
My 3B SST solved the problem . It is a very natural, smooth, neutral sound. Those looking for tonal warmth won't find it but,IMO, it is a significant improvement on the ST series. I'm assuming the same is true for the 2B SST but the the 2B LP ( which I also had) was quite different from the ST series.

Hello

I recently purchased 2BSST. I have PMC GB1 & a tube preamplifier. I did demoed 3BST & 4BST and I believe that they did a pretty good job with 2BSST. Sound is neutral & balanced between the highs & the lows.  So far, after one month of listening, I am a happy camper.
