Koetsu Onyx ID

Hello fellow inmates. I wonder if anybody can help me ID this cartridge. I bought this Koetsu Onyx with understanding that it needs to be rebuilt, or at least retipped. I tried playing it but it didn't track too well, suspension feels very stiff (I expected that). Soundwise it seems to be a Koetsu Onyx, if somewhat darker and rolled-off at the top than I expected. Puzzle is: it's coil's impedances are right around 3 ohms, while every other Koetsu I had was around 5 or 6 ohms. I opened it up and coils are silver color rather than copper. Serial # is 00012, metal part of the body is silver, not black like on current Koetsus, and ears are closer to the front, not to the rear like on current versions. It is a small body, not that huge older version. I wonder, because of low impedance, whether it was rebuilt by somebody and coils were replaced. In which case it will have to go to Koetsu only. Or there were some Onyxes like that? It's output seems to be lower as well. Anybody? I have pictures. Rgds, Mark

I would ask this question in Audiogon.  Quite a few people there have Koetsus.

I think that sounds right.  The Urushi platinum has silver clading over copper coil.  The only issue is whether you want it retipped by someone else or have it rebuilt by Koetsu because they won't just retip.
