I might have tried cdparanoia at some point (it sounds awfully familiar...maybe w/ EAC?), but I know I haven't tried any of the rest. At present I'm using Max on my Mac Pro, and though it isn't the equal of Easy CD-DA Extractor IMO, it has performed sufficiently well enough...for now. I haven't done any bit tests, but for some reason, rips to .flac with Max sound better than iTunes rips to Apple Lossless. Just another of those "it makes no sense, but it does" kind of things.Nevertheless, I will unhesitatingly switch back to Easy CD-DA Extractor if/when it is determined I can do so w/o adding any semblance of a Microsoft product, but I'm not optimistic. Thanks for the list of alternatives. Should I find Max isn't as good as it seems now (I've only used it a short while), they'll be on my short list of options.-Jim
Just downloaded MAX - thanks for the link/tipI wanted to make a compressed copy of my music library and it looks like just the thing to do the trick.
