Good news, Hugh. Take your time with it, the more break-in you do the less I'll have to do when you pass it along it to me.

I'm not sure how many people are on the list, but I think we should all withhold our reviews until everyone has had a chance to try it out, os as not to create any preconceptions. Of course, if there are any problems or quirks that everyone needs to know about, that info should be passed along.

Sign me up for the roadshow, I'd be interested in hearing it. The power output is a little on the low side for my Vandy 2C's, they want a minimum of 40 watts. But I live in a condo and can't listen at reference levels anyway, so it should be enough.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, for scheduling and shipping purposes.

I have Strata Mini, CEC cd player, & Bryston BP25DA + 4BSST.
I am also building a second 2ch set using TomS Joule Electra VZN100 and a Sonic Euphoria PLC, no cd player yet.

Overall, the amp looks solidly built with a few minor items such as a couple of scratches from (I guess) Shuguang when they installed the cage over the tubes housing. If you look closely to the 2nd picture, at the bottom of it there are 2 scratched lines next to the holes for the cage's bolts. Other than that, it's a beautiful piece.

Oh, I thought it would be coming in a few weeks, not a few months. Have you to spoken to Ralph about this? The info I have from him as of 8 Feb is that it would be coming to me a week or 2 after you had received it.

If you have spoken to Ralph that's fine, but we will need to get back in touch in late April or early May. I will be out of town for part of May and the amp shouldn't be shipped until I return.

I wonder about the purpose of holding back review comments on an audition tour......its not normally done that way ????

Withholding comments until the demo tour is finished is actually the norm, in my experience. It prevents influencing the people who receive the product later in the tour with the impressions of earlier reviewers. IMO this is especially critical because we are not professional reviewers, in fact we often rely on the comments and impressions of other users to choose our own equipment. That naturally creates a bias, especially if the person making the comment is someone we are familiar with and whose judgment we trust. One early negative (or favorable) review can and probably will unconsciously bias later reviewers.

Of course, that's not fair to the manufacturer. If they are willing to offer their product for a demo tour like this, at no cost (except shipping/insurance) or obligation to us, then we owe it to them to be as fair and open minded about their products as we can be. That almost certainly cannot happen if you've already heard the opinions of other people with whom you interact. Obviously there's no way to make it completely objective, but IMO we are obligated to try to the best extent possible.

There's no need to rush, you've only had the amp for a few days. Keep it for the full evaluation period, if you want. I really wasn't expecting you to ship it for another 5-7 days. Bill wanted to hear it at my place and I'm trying to set-up a demo/shoot-out at the same time with some local friends. It will take a little bit of time to put that together.

When you are ready to ship, please let me know when, how and the tracking number, so I can keep an eye out for it.
