thanks guys for responding to my fish for compliments

I know I sound like I am blowing my own trumpet ... but what I really wanted to express was my  total pleasure with the work that Louis at Omega has done here!
And of course Vinnies Sig 30  amp.

And while I'm at it how impressed I am with Empirical Audio modifications of the ack dAct! Putting the DAC into the system has brought forth gorgeous sounds. There certainly is a good match  between these two  components.  The  DAC  also has the  same  power set up as the  amp -  so it  can run  all day now - and charge overnight.

Finally:
The amp suffered damage to the case when it was originally shipped (before Vinnies new packaging)  Without question Louis built me a new enclosure (at which  stage  i took advantage and  changed  from Maple veneer to Zebrawood)  and modified the base to my  every  whim.  Vinnie swapped the internals and shipped it back. Total  satisfaction.

(6 moons inspired the photo editing!)

aa    Just in case you want to put icing on a beautiful cake; I have the Omega 30 in maple with a teak thingamaknob instead of the silver knob.  It looks really great!

Hi Fu_man,

Thanks for posting, and glad you love it!   :D

I heard your EA modded ack dAck + Sig 30 combo and I really didn't want to ship it to you... they make really beautiful music together!

It looks even better in person...trust me on this one.  Louis did a fine job with those enclosures.  He'll be taking pics of the newest ones that leave his shop, and they'll be added to his website.

We also tried a gold knob (Audio Note) that is smaller in diameter, but also very attractive.  You can see a couple of pics in this head-fi link:
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=217750

ZLS is using a maple enclosure and the "thingamaknob" is very cool and does have a nice feel to it.  Ha ha...there is nothing wrong with playing with your thingamaknob!  :icon_lol:

Best regards,

Vinnie

Are there any potential or actual sonic benefits to the wooden cases?  They ARE beautiful, no doubt.

Hi miklorsmith,

I never did any A/B tests with two units (of equal break-in time) to subjectively determine if the wooden enclosure offers any sonic benefits, so I really can't say that the wooden enclosure sounds better.

Download the pictures into your computer....then go to the Gallery, and click...create a gallery. Not too hard from there.
Once you have a gallery, select photo to post.....copy web address, then paste to your posting message.....
To do that you click the photo icon....2nd. from left....2nd. row across the top of your reply box. You would see this....[ img ] * [ img ].....paste the address between those img markers.....see * .....paste it there. :thumb:

That zebrawood really is gorgeous.  I've always liked the sleek and clean look to the Sigs and this is even better.

I'm also sold on doing a zebrawood veneer for my next turntable project.
