The Ice

Hope everyone has survived last nights ice invasion. I awoke to the tree in my front yard taking up the whole of yard and most of the cul-de-sac I live on . It missed the house as did the branches that fell in the back yard so I'm very thankful. Hopefully everyone else has survived relatively unscathed. Take  care as the ice is only going to get worse as the weekend progresses.

Yes this is deja vu all over again. Glad to here you had no damage to your home. Hope everyone still has power. It hasn't been bad in my neck of the woods--so far. Tomorrow will tell.

Lost power for three hours overnight.  Not looking forward to the next wave.  Pretty heavy icing out west.

Yup - we got a decent amount.  So far it's just trees bending.  Lost power for a bout 5 minutes twice this morning around 8.

Doesn't look like it's going to warm up as much as they thought before the next round hits.  Not sure some of the trees will make it.  I already have one next door that is bending over my fence.  Another round may take it down and my fence.

Yep, survived round 1. Just made it back from the panic isle at Schnucks. We've got lots of limbs down again, this time it's the cedar trees taking the beating. Round 2 tonight and 3 tomorrow don't look too nice. They are saying we'll have temps dipping into the low teens or single digits on Monday so this shite may be around for a while .....again.

I'm really tired of ice.  :finger: vm

Glad to hear everyone is doing so good, so far...
...but the fun has just begun!

We had about 4 limbs of little consequence this morning trying to hit the van again; my son called last nite at 11:15pm that his power was out at his mom's and is still out.

Hey, we hope for the best and put up with what we get.
I've still got a limb poked in my roof from last storm! :?

At least it isn't THIS bad....

Hang in there!

hi guys,

well, we lost power last night about 1.30. i'm staring at line overhead line that feeds my house laying in my front yard. fortunately we've got a generator and a wood burning, cast iron stove so staying warm won't be an issue.

since i'm typing this from my phone (of which service just came back on). wold you guys keep an eye on the circle? if anything gets out of hand (which is unlikey), just contact JohnR or one of the global moderators.

well, off to let my phone charge up and then to refill the generator so we have enough juice to watch the 2 hour season premire of 24 (its all about priorities).

Big bummer, Scott, but at least you got good backup plan!
Looks like you folks to the west got the crappy end of the stick this time.
I'm just watching rain drip out of my crushed gutter.
Looks like you have your priorities straight though...

I've got some 'wood' in my yard if you need to feed your wood-burner....

Good luck!

We lost ours about 10AM Saturday and got it back about 3AM today.  Still no cable or connectivity or phone - typing this from work (shhhhh)  :nono:  I did break down and buy a generator.  If Ameren can't do a better job than this I guess it's worth it.

We only lost power of a couple of seconds so we are all nice, warm and cosy. Our front yard looks like a bomb hit it.

My section of House Springs has the worst series of brown-outs I've ever seen. The power never actually went all of the way off, just two days of lights dimming. No damage to house/yard. Generator is ready to go though.

Wasn't a fun one- lost power twice over the w/end & became bored out of my mind.  Too much quiet time will make a person go insane.

Are we ever going to convert this damn Scotsman?  Does he even realise us Yankees don't like S substituted for Z?
