Speaker design

For me, design is of the utmost importance.

I've made a "cut and paste" speaker in paint. Real low tech image.
But its for illustration purposes...
I call it "Thunder puppy"


What is good design for you, say when you go looking for a speaker or a component?
Make a picture and post it! Or just post a speaker you like!

The specs would be something like:

350-17hz +/- 0.7db (thats the sub and midbass actual response...)
20k to 350hz = The Speaker Art Super Clef ... whatever that has. Not sure.

It could be like 89-93db sensitive? Dont know, but it could be I suppose.
It would have to be bi-wire or most likely have a 3-way electronic filter.
Separating the Clef and Midbass and subbass at 350hz and at 55hz or something.
F3 = 15hz (slammin'  :thumb: )

Again, made in microsoft paint, in less than 5 minutes!

Design principles are important to me too. 

My ideal speaker would include separate sub and main speaker cabinet that used a single very high quality  mid/tweeter, no bigger than 4 inch diameter with no whizzer cone, mounted at listener's ear height in a transmission line type cabinet with very low frequency 1st order crossover with digital domain room correction to powered transmission line subs.  All drivers to be 95 dB/w/m at 8 ohms (for good dynamics without picking up system noise).

In effect, this would be an active speaker with no crossover issues near the frequencies that the ear is sensitive to.  Each cabinet could be located so as to be ideal with respect to the frequencies handled.  The amount of high frequency beaming would help alleviate first reflection room effects.  The room correction should allow for flat frequency response tailored to the room in use.  The closest commercial offering I'm aware of is the stuff from TBI.

The only "catch" with this concept is that I'm not aware of what I'd call a high quality 3/4 inch mid/tweeter, let alone one that is 95 dB/w/m at 8 ohms.

Well yeah, I suppose that using a fullrange 3 or 4 incher (not a 3/4 inch as I must have mistaken you for writing...) ...

They dont exist? Are you sure?
