Looks to be very interesting...

The features are extremely impressive. SN is suggesting a release in Q3 '07. It appears to have a ton of features (especially for the money) but who knows what will be out by then.

I was very impressed at CES with Sherwood Newcastle's upcoming line-up, big bang for the buck. I was lucky enough to have a chance to talk with Jeff Hipps at length. One interesting things I remember is most if not all of their receivers will have RF remotes now with all the second zone offerings. They also had a few models aimed at the customer installer that are nice and very easy to set-up. I think Jeff said something along the lines of, "your average custom HT installer was running wire for an alarm company just last month."

Can someone refresh my memory? I remember SN being involved with some other lines, but I can't remember if they were the OEM for someone else, or another vendor was the OEM for SN...
I did hear an older version of a 900 series receiver, and I was fairly impressed with the package for the price. Much of the price was spent on the HT side, but the sound was pretty good too.

I think one of the Outlaw processors was a clone of a Sherwood Newcastle. This new receiver looks really nice. I wonder how it sounds. It's got all the latest stuff and can be a real bargain if it's implemented properly. Sherwood Newcastle has a proven history for excellent, bargain priced processors.

I use the R-865 for my personal and demo HT, and have found it offers a lot of bang for the buck.
I have placed quite a few of the "65" series (P-965, R-965, R-865) and have yet to have a complaint, about sound, or operation.
