Suggestions for Mirage BPS-100 subwoofer drivers
« on: 7 Jan 2007, 03:59 pm »
Hi there,

I just bought a pair of Mirage BPS-100 subwoofer drivers.

Apart from what I can gleen from the product manual (  http://www.miragespeakers.com/PDFs/...PS100manual.pdf ), I don't have any technical information on them.

They each weigh about 1.1kg and the diameter of the metal frame is 16.5cm

On the back of each driver is a sticker with the following printed on it:
4DR51803-A
P95B3
MADE IN CANADA

I'm now trying to decide on a cabinet design to use for them.

One approach is to try to replicate the cabinet design of the of the original mirage bps-100 subwoofer. The exterior dimensions of the cabinet are listed in the instruction manual.

Does anyone have other suggestions on an appropriate cabinet for the drivers?

Does anyone have any information on the actual raw drivers?

I'm looking at using either a CSS SUB 100 plate amp
 http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=SUB100

or the CSS BASH 300 plate amp
http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=BASH300

Currently, the speakers they're going to be used with are a pair of small fullrangers using using tangband W3-871 drivers. The cabinet details are described on http://www.zaphaudio.com/archives.html.

I'd like to hear any suggestions for cabinet size, configuration, porting, etc.

Thanks
