You won't believe what they (scammers) are doing now
«

Last night I was laying in bed waiting for my wife to get home from work. It was just after midnight. Next thing I know my cell phone is ringing (I have my store phone forwarded to my cell after hours). Thinking it could be my security company, I get up to answer the phone but missed it by seconds. I went back into bed and then heard the phone notify me of a voice message AND a page.
Curious who would be calling at midnight, I listen to the message. It was someone by the name of Barrister calling from Nigeria letting me know he had just sent me an email and I need to read it right away and call back imediately. I could not believe they are
calling
now as well as emailing. Below is the email I received.
The sad part is that there are some out there that would give all their personal information to these people.
If anything, it is an interesting read.

Compliment of the Season
I know that this mail will come to you as a surprise, please accept the
content in good faith. I do not intend to cause any grief to you and your
family. The reason for sending this mail is very fundamental to the doctrine
of human privileges and right. My name is Barrister Ejike Luis, a legal
practitioner and the personal Attorney to late Mr. Richard Baker who died
along with his wife
and children in a ghastly motor accident along Sagamu express road Ibadan,
over 3 years now (August 13, 2004). All the occupants in the vehicle lost
their lives. I am convinced that it was the grace of God that made me to
locate you. My client was a successful and an accomplished family man, who
made enough fortune before his untimely death.
Since then I had made several inquiries through your Embassy to locate any
of my clients extended relative but this exercise has proved unsuccessful.
After several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to trace his relatives
through the Internet, to locate any member of his family
and not much progress was recorded.
My late client was an influential wealthy businessman, an oil magnet here in
Nigeria and he left behind a deposit of Six Million United States Dollars
only ($6,000,000.00usd) in his domiciliary bank account in a commercial bank
here in Lagos.
After the death of my client his bankers contacted me, as his Attorney to
provide his next of kin who should inherit his funds. The board of directors
of his bank adopted a resolution and I was mandated to provide his next of
kin for the payment of this money within 28 working days or
forfeit the money to the bank as an abandoned property.
The bank had planned to invoke the abandoned property decree of 1996 to
confiscate the funds after the expiration of the period given to me.
Fortunately, I came across your name, to my greatest astonishment, I
discovered that you bear the same surname with my late client and
coincidentally, you are nationals of the same country. Being convinced that
you may be
related with my late client or that you might provide clue to my search, I
therefore, decided to contact you with these facts before me because of the
similarities. By virtue of my closeness to the deceased, I am very much
aware of my client financial standing and the bank account
he operates.
I have reasoned very professionally and I feel it will belegally proper to
present you as the next of kin of my deceased client so that you can be paid
the funds left in his bank account. I therefore seek your consent to present
you as the Next of Kin to the Deceased since you are at an
advantage, bearing the same surname and equally from the same country. That
the proceeds of this Bank Account valued at $6 Million Dollars can be paid
to you. We shall both share the funds. 45% for me and 50% to you, while 5%
should be for expenses or any tax(es) that may be required
by your Government.
I shall assemble all the necessary Legal Documents that will be used to back
up our claim. All I require is your honest cooperation to enable us see this
deal through. I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate
arrangement that will protect you from any breach of law.
Please get in touch with me by email or by telephone to enable us discuss
further.
Best Regards.

I've had that same email many times. Always from another area of Africa. But NEVER a phone call. I think that would scare the hell out of me if a stranger (other that you audio guys
) called and emailed me. Kinda spooky.

wow! the same thing happened to me two nights ago, but no call. This was a very similar letter but from the Channel Islands. Pissed me off royally. I replied at length telling "it" what I thought and closed with "I hope you fall into a cold rough sea within the next 15 minutes and drown". Apparently that didn't make much of an impression since I got another the next day saying it was urgent I send my details as the window of opportunity was closing rapidly! Was it Barnum who said a sucker was born every day? I wish these people, along with the spammers, would take a vacation in Cambodia and collectively step on a land mine.

In case you think there is no justice, I have provided this link. These guys are scambaiters. Not only do they scam the scamer(not hard to do as they are it seem particulaly btight) but they turn over the information gathered to the authorities. Be warned though, this is adictive reading....On the page I b=have attched a link to just scroll down to the various stories. "The Incredible Shrinking Artwork " is my personal favorite

The latest to come my way was the following from a "hitman" with a conscience:
"Attention ,
"I Want you to read this message very carefully, and keep the secret
with you till further notice, You have no need of knowing who i am, where am from, till i make out a space for us to see, i have being paid $ 50,000.00 in advance to terminate you with some reasons listed to me by my employer,Do not contact the police or try to send a copy of this to them, because if you do i will know, and might be pushed to do what i have being paid to do,beside this the first time i turned out to be a betrayer in my job.
"Now listen,i will arrange for us to see face to face ,you have nothing to be afraid of,i will come to your office or home, so determine when you wish we meet,do not set any camera to cover us or set up any tape to record our conversation,i will give you the tape that contains his request for me to terminate you, which will be enough evidence for you to take him to court(if you wish to).
"You don't need my phone contact for now till am assured you are ready
to comply good.
"I am doing this because i have take my time to study your dealing and movements,But you are innocent of the accusation levelled on you.
"Have a wonderful Day."
I emailed him/her/it back that he was working too cheaply; my wife would have paid him twice as much.

A guy I work with toyed with one of these a-holes for months once a couple years ago by feigning interest in his Nigerian scam. He would write him very long, ridiculous emails, posing as a "prophylactic repairmen" and telling nonsensical stories about his life, always keeping him on the hook by making him think he was just about to pull the trigger (send cash). I'm not kidding; it went on for like two months, and both the mails and the replies were hilarious to read. You could feel the exasperation on the other end and also the fact that his English wasn't good enough, along with his familiarity level with American culture, for him to realize he was being had was a real riot.
I recall him fondly, though I can't recall his name. We can only hope he's dead or in prison now.

The mine fields of Cambodia make great vacation spots. Group rates available. Every spammer who brings one or more certified virus or Trojan maker gets free prosthetics!

Damn, Nigeria must be the richest country on earth. Everybody who croaks there seems to leave a fortune behind.
I got a similar letter purportedly from England. I replied and attached a picture of a female stuffing a can of Pepsi in an out-of-the-way place. Not one more email from that guy. Thinking of doing the same with the next spam I get from "Christian Home Loans"

Dearest One,
It is my pleasure to contact you for a business venture which I intend to establish in your country.
There is this amount of Seven million Three Hundred Thousand U.S dollars($7,300,000.00) which my late Father deposited for us here in a leading Bank here in abidjan before his death.
I have decided to invest these money in your country where it will be safe enough outside our Country for security and political reasons.
I want you to help me transfer these fund from here into your personal account in your country for investment purposes on these areas were tax will not be much.
If you can be of an assistance to me, I will be pleased to offer to you 8% of the total fund.
I await your soonest response.
Kind regard,
Miss Julieth Wiliams.
