Dealing with tags for EAC/FLAC
« on: 6 Jan 2007, 05:29 pm »
I have a few tags in my EAC/FLAC system I'd like to change.  For instance, Johnny Cash is listed as both "Cash, Johnny" (for 1 CD, I think) and "Johnny Cash" (for all other CDs).  Is there a program to easily modify these?

Foobar is free and will do this.

Just load the songs in question into Foobar playlist, highlight the songs, right click.  Click "properties" which will give you a box where you can select (title, song, etc) then click "edit."

After you're done changing info, make sure to press "update info," then "reload info from file."  By then, the song display in Foobar will have changed to new edited format.

I recently started using The Godfather for flac tagging. It's pretty nice, supports operations on multiple files, will create directory structures basd on tags, etc

I've been using Media Monkey (free) to clean up all my tags and find it very easy to use and comprehensive.

The only simple to use, proven idiot-proof (proven by personal use) program I've found is mp3tag.  It's also free and can be found here:

I used MediaMonkey before that but frankly found mp3tag a whole lot quicker to load and use, and utter simplicity to use.

I tend to use different software for different things. My basic tool that I use the most is Mp3tag - it's the best! If I would like to restructure my files, then The Godfather does the job. Playlists -> Media Monkey.

For album art I think Album Art Aggregator is really easy to use - recommended.
