I have an older model Ack Dack (1.2d, I think -- I'll have to look).  I previously upgraded to the 2.0 (though honestly I've never performed a test between the two -- maybe I should do that before I sell the 1.2d?).

IMO, at those prices, both the Daniels and the MHDT are excellent choices.  All depends on what sound you want.
