Hello Everybody
I'm new in this group, I live in Italy and recently discovered the 938, I've listened to them in UK during a recent trip and I was really impressed.
The system I use includes Audible Illusions Modulus 3, Muse power amplifier and Vandersteen 2 CE.
Do you think that I'll obtain a clear improvement changing the 2Ce with 938?
I didn't have the opportunity to listen to the 968, but the UK dealer told me that the 968 sound can be less natural and more metallic compared to the 938 due to the aluminium woofer. what do you think?

Welcome aboard nigi.

The Vandersteen 2c has always been a musical speaker (forgiving and natural sounding), but the 938 is both musical and at another level when it comes to transparency, dynamics, detail, and imaging/staging.  I used to own the AI modulus 3, a luscious sounding tube preamp, but unreliable in my experience with poor customer support.  I don't know if the 968 is more metallic or less natural sounding than the 938, but almost all reports I'm aware of indicate the 968 sounds better.  Perhaps, the 968 was not properly broken in.  I'm still very happy with my 938s.

I have to decide between 938 and 968, I was very well impressed by the 938 and the UK dealer told me that "they are an incredible value for the money". perhaps he is more focused on the 938 (he told me he has sold 1 pair of 968) and prefers to suggest them instead of 968.

I'm a Hyperion dealer and got both 938 and 968 at home.
I think your dealer did not heard a 968, even out of the box they do not sound metallic at all and one of their quality over the 938 IS the naturalness.
That's really obvious when you listen to both speakers, the 938 is incredibly good for the price, the 968 is world class.

I need some time to do a real A/B listening test.
My 938 will left my home monday for 1 or 2 months (they will be reviewed by a magazine) so you will have to wait

I owned the 938 and will be replacing them with the 968 once funds allow.

nigi25, make sure you listen to the 968 before making any decision. The 938 sounds more metallic and less natural compared to the new flagship if you ask me.
