What's your 2007 "Audio" Resolution?
« on: 2 Jan 2007, 01:54 am »
Hey!

I started out 2006 with moving in to my current apartment in Jan. 2006. Last year I pretty much spend most of the early part of the year dancing with my speaker.... I mean  positioning them  Of which I got it about right later last year and very happy with the sound right now. And of cause there were a few miner tweaks. And the additional inexpensive DAC Kit of which I called it the "Little Buddy" that turned out to sound much better than I expected. :o

This year 2007 with my system pretty settled in with the sound... ain't perfect but it pretty much pushes all of my buttons  And no plan for any major purchases. :D So....

My 2007 "Audio" resolution is.... Buy more  LPs and CDs... and just enjoy the musics!  :singing:

Yup, that's all for me in 2007 :D Well, the hard part is finding time to do that  But I have to admit though that as a DIYer I'm likely to think of something to tweak or mod with my system agian  Yes, even right now I do have a plan for modding my good old Rega Planar turntable soon

Well... It is a start of a brand new year... the 2007 :D So, guys. What's your plan for your audio/stereo system for this year? Any new things you are planing to buy, upgrade or add? What else do you want to accomplish with your system for this year 2007?

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Get out to more live concerts.  Things didn't go as planned last year and I didn't get to hear as much live music as I'd like, this year I'm getting out there more.

Get rid of some turntables. And some vintage JBL's. And some debt. Organize my too many LPs and realign the solar system. Then in Feb.............

Agreed - buying and listening to more music - and not getting suckered into buying the latest "amazing sounding amp" or "unbelievable speaker" or the " last cd player ill ever own" - i have been doing all of that for 17 plus years and its time to stop!!!!

regards - happy new year

stop listening to what isn't and hear what is. Too zen? read: what's right instead of what's wrong.
stop by-passing fuses with silver wire. Stop fussing about my cables; should they be hung on an elastic cord or a nylon thread? Stop acting like a reclusive audio freak and become a responsible adult citizen

Hey!

aerius, that is a great idea! :D I should do that too this year. Well, the last time I was at a live show was in November at my friends gig. And the last time I've been to a concert hall was a few years ago at the Carnegie Hall of which I saw Dave Brubeck and his band play... sadly they didn't play "Take Five" :? Don't know the reason why. Hmmm... maybe they got tried of it?

During last Summer when I go ride my bike in Central Park on the weekend I usually catch a live small Jazz band playing there... and it is free... well if you are cheap, but I usually give them a dollar or two :D

Anyway, I think I will have to check the Carnegie Hall and see if there anything interested coming this year and maybe check out other live venues around the city. Well, I live in NYC so there is always somethings going on. :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

To not buy anything without hearing it in my system, compared directly.

I've got such an incredibly good sounding system right now I don't know if I want to touch it.  However, I do plan on comparing a preamp to my own... if it gives me the same performance but adds the ability to spin my records, I might have to go for it.  Otherwise, I'll stay with my 1-source solution.

A fellow AC'er has shared a few albums with me that will keep me busy for a long time... New music is a great thing... just need time to listen.

Since I usually buy music continuously throughout the years and now that I have been sold on "toobes" (thanks to Merle and Bill@response audio)...I resolve this year to slim down all the solid state equipment cluttering up my apt., without replacing them with tube equivalents. But at least I can allow myself to tube roll!
And one other thing: get back into the groove of playing vinyl. Which means I will have to buy a record cleaning machine...damn...there is always the 'buy'... :duh:

Find a music server that sounds as good as the Memory Player for less money.
