Impedance of original sub with dual voice coil
« on: 30 Dec 2006, 04:59 pm »
I have an "original sub" with factory installed dual voice coil speaker and related crossover network purchased in 1995.  I want to remove the crossover and wire the voice coils together so it can be driven by a single dedicated amplifier.  Labeling on the back states that the "original sub" has an impedance of 8 ohms but doesn't say anything about the dual voice coil option.

My question is, are there two 4 ohm or two 8 ohm voice coils?  It would be nice to know whether I need to hook them up in series or parallel.

There are two 4 Ohm voicecoils in the DVC driver, wired in series they're 8 Ohms.
