Hey, I'm slowly putting together some stuff w/ my limited recording equipment. . .looking for honest opinions.  Let me know what you all think of the lo-fi streaming version of my song "Undone" Just recorded and mixed in my apartment, so it's not perfect.  www.myspace.com/thebrokenwaltz

peace and happy new year!

Just took a quick listen and on my rather modest computer speakers it sounded very good. I can hear a strong Gilmour influence and a touch of Mark Bolan in your vocal style. Keep up the good work.

hello P,

I really enjoyed the song and found myself singing "Here in the Sun" (not quite the same though).

Well, I made my page look cooler and added some pics (and have changed up the songs)   :P  So, check it out here:   www.myspace.com/thebrokenwaltz

By the way. . .I guess I'm kinda no longer a GAS member. . .sorry for the lack of participation the last several months. . .but, the reason was my job situation.  And. . .the beginning of March, I moved back to KC for a new jobber.  Hope to move back to STL ASAP.

Peace!

Unfortunately, my wireless router is not letting me hear right to the ends of your songs, but I like "What If".
If I may make a suggestion, though, I would like the opening vocal sound to go on longer - 'till about 30 sec then transition to the close voice (on the word "screaming") by 34 sec for the words "what if".

I also wonder what it would sound like, considering the only accompaniment is a guitar, for you to run it through a wah-wah pedal changing extremely slowly but more or less continuously throughout the song.

Interesting song, though.

Hey Paul!
Good luck in KC!!
I think it would be safe to say that you are still a member of GAS; you just have to drive a little further than me!

Take care!

My first thought was - Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb?

Did it in your apartment?  Cool...  Mixing ain't easy, I find it very challenging to get good sound.  Only tried it once; it felt like a waste of an afternoon for not only myself but four fabulous ladies whose patience was tried to the utmost as I tried to record them live with six mics into two tracks.  Since then I gave up on those recording engineer dreams...

Thanks, guys!

As far as What If, yeah, I can try mixing it up a bit in terms of the vocal effects.  However, I currently don't have recording equipment. . .and my equipment is very limited, hence, only the guitar. (recorded it in STL using a friend's equipment). A lot of the stuff I recorded was just to get my idea down and then eventually re-record it all and add stuff (instruments, more vocals, etc) to it once I get the equipment.

I have a couple other rough songs recorded and have written the basis for 4 more songs.  I can't WAIT to get recording equipment!  I'm shooting for end of May/beginning of June.  That'll be my first purchase. . .then a better amp. . . keyboard. . .and some percussive stuff.  But for now, again, everything is done w/ just guitar.  My only fully 'developed' song in terms of recording is 'Melt.'

Thanks, again!

Peace!

I posted a new song tonight.  Again, the streaming audio stinks and also messes w/ the mix a bit.  The volume sounds just a bit off in places where it doesn't in the pre-uploaded file.

Anyways, bass and keyboards will soon be added. . .and possibly drums down the road.  I just posted it tonight because I'm happy with it for now and haven't posted a NEW song in ages.  I finally got some of my own recording equipment, so, I'm happy!  The song, for now, is called CHANGES.

Let me know what you think!  And don't be too mean!
