Okay folks, you win. I really want to get the reference system in place and cannot do so untill the D2 System is sold.

Please read all the details first:

To answer a few questions:

 1) There are two 15" woofers in each tower. These drivers are custom designed and manufactured by Usher.

 2) The speakers are rated at 98dB. I have driven them with a stereo alarm clock radio (just to see how the combination would work) with startling output levels.

 3) They can handle anything from 1 watt to 200 watts with the best sound I have heard from them being with low power SET amplifiers. The best has been 45, 2A3 and 300B amps but also very happy with large triodes such as 845 and 805 based units.

 4) Each tower is made of 4 separate modules.
     a) each 15" bass driver has its own module
     b) the horn has its own module
     c) the base of the speaker is also a separate module
This makes transporting and setup a little easier as I have no idea how one would set up a single 620 pound speaker without it coming in separate modules

  5) Yes, I will help the buyer take down, pack and load the speakers.

  6) Do NOT bring a pickup truck. They will not fit without making 3 trips. Most pick-ups will also not handle the 1800 pound total weight of this package. A U-Haul type truck would be needed.

Providing the customer comes in as scheduled to pick these speakers up, they are officially SOLD

Now..... I did take in a few pieces in on partial trade if there is any interest:

Avalon Acoustics - Mixing Monitor with Ceramic Drivers - like new only 2 weeks old.

ASL Hurricanes - original chrome chassis

Yep, my loss (big loss) was his gain. He is hiring a small crew to come up and pick them up.

I just hope I can make up some of my loss on the Avalon speaker and Hurricane amps. I think the Avalons were in the area of $6900?? and according to him, they have not yet been taken out of the box.

Some things are much more important than audio. Congrats on the new addition to the family. Enjoy the little ones while they're still young. They grow up far too fast and you wonder where the years went

And they said it couldn't be done.  Congratulations Bill, they've been on the chopping block for some time now,,, which really surprised me considering the setup.(and asking price) But what really surprises me is the timing, do we have an audiophile here who didn't get what he wanted for Christmas? It's a well known fact that there's a lot of shopping going on those 6 days after Christmas, what with returns and all. And what a return for sale, a set of ASL Hurricanes.  :o  Don't get any better than that for some lucky shopper.   :thumb:

I think the reason they were so difficult to move was due to their size and not offering shipping. This customer is sending a crew up from Philidelphia Friday to pick them up with a big truck.

I need to tell myself, and keep reminding myself that I don't need the Avalon Mixing Monitors for a reference pair of speakers to evaluate and test my amplifiers.

I'm sure the Hurricanes will go quick at the asking price.

Well folks, today the Usher D2 speakers were loaded into th back of a truck and on their way to a new home. I am sure he will enjoy them as his HT room is about 20' x 30'.

What he will be doing is using only one bass module per horn. This way, with teh extra horn, he can take one of teh extra bass units and have a center channel. The second extra bass unit he will run with a high power solid state amp for a subwoofer :thumb:

Should be one hell of a home theater system.

Congratulations! I know these have been up for awhile, and with what they were going for, it sounds like he got a hell of a deal.

Yes, this one got a great deal. At least I got a nice pair of Hurricanes that I think will move quite fast as they look almost new.

The Avalon Mixing Monitor speakers are new in the box and now I have to decide whether or not to sell them or use them as a reference for evaluating my amplifiers and modifications.  They are extremely articulate and detailed speakers with their ceramic drivers and would be a perfect choice for evaluations.

I'll give it some time to see if the move.
