Excellent! I overhauled one of these for a friends son (18 years old). He loves it and it actually sounded very good with almost zero rumble.

I got one of those with my Dyna MkIV's and a Layfayette preamp. l already had the Systemdek but still think I should have kept the Empire. :duh:

Now I picked up turntable number 6. It's a Harmon Kardon T25, the same as Frank Van Alstine's. I'm going to put my AVA Longhorn in this one as see what it does. I will publish photos tomorrow. By the way, I picked this thing up for $15 dollars on Christmas Eve and was the only bid. I kind of felt sorry for the guy. If you are looking to get back into vinyl and are looking for a nice semi-automatic, this is the one.

Actually mine is a T30 and you will need to relocate the power supply to an outboard box to make it quiet.  I will show you how the next time you visit.

Happy New Year

Well O.K. it's not like Franks. Sounds good though and for 15 bucks, what the hell. I do need to adjust the arm return though. Oh, it just picked up. I guess I'm done then (first time listening). Here are some pictures:

Wow, fantastically clean (no noticeable cracks in cover, et al), for $15 Wayner  :thumb:

It's a nice clean design, too, a la Rega.

Enjoy,

John,

I couldn't believe I got it with only one bid. I must say the Grado Longhorn sounds great in this TT. Perhaps the lesson is that Grado's don't work in really massive tonearms, like the Empire. On the HK it is very light and lively, nice bass line and doesn't do that weird not tracking right distortion that I had when it was mounted in the Empire. There is a very slight hum and Frank Van Alstine said I should move the servo controlled electronics and transformer out of the TT into it's own box, which I will do on some weekend that I don't have anything to do. I will listen to the HK for the day and then tomorrow, you know what will happen, don't you.

It will be tweak time in Waynersville! Any ideas for tweaking this animal would be appreciated.

By the way, I got the very last Longhorn that Frank has made. It has an interesting history, don't you think?

O.K., I'm in a damn good mood, so here is a picture of my studio room that I have often talked about. It's filled with AVA gear and turntables.
