Onix-x AV123 2006 Product of the Year
« on: 16 Dec 2006, 12:37 am »
I notice a picture and write-up of a speaker that looked very familiar and won the Consumer Electronics 2006 product of the year for excellence and value as found on Audioholics.com. Reading a bit further it was designed by Danny, congrats. Just wish it had the GR name its time for your individual recognition :thumb:

I love these little x-ls speakers and have gone a little "x-treme" in acquiring 4 pairs + 2 x-subs + x-cs center channel for use in multiple rooms of my house.

Here is a picture of a HT setup in the beautiful rosewood finish:

The x-ls speakers were also upgraded by Wayne at Bolder Cable with a new crossover as well as having no-rez applied to each cabinet.

Overall these speakers are silly good for the money and a joy to listen to!!!

Congrats Mark on making yet another superb product.

Punchy and quick.

Won't rock the house, but certainly not lacking.

Oh yeah, they look great as well.

sometimes that's all you need...I am not a big fan of basso profundo but I do like to know that there is a bottom to movies and music....that seems like the perfect setup for watching movies without going over-the-top as is so very possible amongst the other inmates...er...people here. aa

These still can't touch the AV1's though right?  If they are even close to AV1 performance, these speakers would be impossible to beat at that price...

If you upgrade the parts quality it gets really close.

The X-LS does have one edge. Since it has a larger woofer it also has a little more body and weight to it.

Well, good job, Danny.  I'm pleased to see that your designs are getting the kudos that they should.  The Onix speakers not only sound great, they look great, too.  Mark has got the cabinet thing down!  I'm glad that you two are making itwork.

Ta,

Dave :thumb:
