SAS Audio 10A line preamp
« on: 12 Dec 2006, 10:45 pm »
I have a used Standard 10A for sale. It belonged to a customer who had to sell his entire system, and I said I would help, and provide a 5 year parts and labor and one year tube warranty. It has the upgrades and is about 3 years old, but little use.
New price is $1695.00, but I will sell for $950.00, which includes shipping within the continental USA.

Here are some comments.

Martin DeWulf lists the 10A as one of only three preamps in the "Exceptional Merit" Catagory.

Rich Weiner:
"The SAS 10A is the most musically truthful preamp I'm aware of, and I will expand that statement by listing some of the line stages I've had in my otherwise very stable system: Herron VTSP-1, VAC CPA III, VAC Standard LE, Audio Research 3A, ARC 8, ARC 10, Mark Levinson ML-1, Levinson ML-7, Levinson ML-10A, Original Aronov PS-100 and Musical Concepts modification, Nagra PL-P, Beveridge RM-1, Rappaport, Placette Passive - there are more, but you get the point. Until I got the 10A, I struggled to make the other components live up to their potential."

Vauhn M, 10A, Email,
"It is still breaking in but I love it. It is interfacing with my system well and I am surprised how much it has improved my sound. Very smooth, yet dynamic with excellent bass. Detail is excellent and instrumental placement in the soundstage is the best I have heard on my magnepans. I was considering a subwoofer but this preamp balances the sound wonderfully. Thanks for engineering such an outstanding product."

Eric:
"The 10A excels at tranparency. Not in the sence of being overly analytical, but in the sense that you hear the music as if it was live."

Bruno V.
"Speaking of Steve's SAS 10A preamp..I got mine delivered about a week and a half ago..what a revelation..and so neutral sounding.. I have an almost new $5,000 Classe CP 65 for sale now because the 10A is that much better in my system.
I have the 10A matched with the Pass Aleph 30 SET amp..sounds great together...and a steal for the price."
-Bruno"

Payment can be Paypal, MO, personal check (needs to clear).

One can contact me by PM or email: sasaudio@omnilec.com

Thanks.

I challenge anyone to find a better sounding pre - at any price.
Yes, I own one, and I've owned and auditioned many other far more expensive.

Unless of course, it's the 11A  :duh:

Hey Steve,

You from P-town?    I went to Bradley and thought the only noteworthy things to come outta the area were Cat tractors and stale beer smelling air (ADM)....so cool that hi-end audio designers are in Central ILL.

who needs a pumpkin gun when you can score a killer preamp?     aa

Are there other audio gurus in the area besides you and Decware??

Do you have a shop?  I'm in chicago but want to visit Peoria sometime next year.

If you're the only judge...I don't think anyone can win

Ok, point taken. Let me re-phrase:
I challenge anyone to find a better sounding pre (to your own ears)

Unless of course, it's the 11A

I own one too, and I wouldn't accept that challenge, unless of course if I had the 11A. :thumb:

Hi guys and thanks for the compliments.

Awhile back I had a call from an MD, from Poplar Bluff, Mo, and he stated his 10A beat his $17,000.00 First Sound Paramount Statement preamp. More dynamic was one term used.

Rich Weiner once verbally stated to me that the 10A was the only preamp he had ever auditioned/reviewed (he has auditioned alot of preamps for BFS) that he was able to hear the reflection off the rear wall in the recording studio. One could actually sense/see the rear wall. Pretty cool. I hear that all the time at home.

It has also been compared to over 30 other preamps and beat all of them, according to customers and reviewers.

Thanks Matt. I am in Morton, about 8 miles east of Peoria on interstate 74.

No other shops that I know of in the area.

Yes, I have a shop. Come and visit anytime you are in the area, just give a call ahead of time if possible.

Take care.
