I just sent an e-mail. Does anyone here think there is any chance in hell that I actaully get billed? Well that or do you think I will get one of those fucking stupid "sorry e-mail all backed up, deleted your order" bullshit things I have gotten the last three times?

I have no idea where else to get

I haven't ordered from Percy in a little bit.  His email is bouncing?  Did you try to call him?  If that doesn't work you could try some of the following (not sure if they have all of what you need):

partsconnexion.com
diyhifisupply.com
soniccraft.com

Rubycon ZA/ZL's are suppose to be good too and a slightly cheaper alternative to Rubycon Blackgates and there are a few places to buy them too... don't have the link handy atm.

P.S. we try to keep this forum as family oriented as possible, so you should try to keep the explicitives to a minimum.

Cheers,

He told me (if I can remember correctly) the email on his pdf catalog is wrong - he changed it a while back.

I think his correct email address is mpercy@pacbell.net - and he answered it right away a few months ago when I bought a few things there.

I've been doing business with Michael Percy for about 25 years, and he's always treated me courteously and handled my orders promptly.  However, he's very busy, apparently too busy.  I regret he treats some orders not promptly.

The BlackGates are available from Sonic Craft, http://www.soniccraft.com/black_gate_capacitors.htm .

it is absolutly stupid for someone to not have an online orderforms. It wastes his time and money. Plus it makes people wary of ordering from him.  Its just bad business get with the times.  That being said I just placed an order and we will see how it goes.

He is a nice guy but I ended up ordering from Parts Connexion one time, which is in Canada, and despite huge delays from the boarder, I got my stuff faster than I would of through Percy. I agree online ordering is better.

They do have the capacitors at Sonic Craft.

If I have to I will order from Parts Connexion; I just happen to know it takes forever from Canada.

I've tried ordering from Percy twice in the past year or so. Both times, i cancelled the order after a week of waiting for a reply. Funny thing, he responded to the cancellation within 24 hours both times.

It's been a while since i ordered from parts connexion, but i seem to recall orders only taking 1-1.5 weeks to arrive in texas.

Hey!

Hmmm.... strange. It had been a while since I ordered form Percy, almost a year now. But I have ordered stuffs from him quiet a bit and it was fine every time.

I guess he is just very busy. He is obviously do this as hobby/side job. True that it would be nice if he have a better site with online ordering form.

It had been years since I ordered from Parts Connexion. How is the order ship and much is the shipping charge to the US cost now these days?

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

I just ordered some parts last week and got my shipping confirmation over the weekend.   Make sure you add up your order, calculate the fees, shipping, and taxes in your email and ask for confirmation of stock and total invoice amount.   It took a day or two for him to give the a-okay and I sent my paypal on friday and shipped on monday.

I agree that he really needs a website with a shopping cart as that'll make his life so much easier from ordering and even from an inventory management and backorder tracking.  To each his own, but a small investment into a shopping cart would probably save him a lot of time.

Absolutely agree!  Partsconnexion is guilty of this too.  It is just such a PITA to copy it all down into an email and have all the correct info and then deal with payment seperately.   I can honestly say it has impeded me from purchasing from Percy & PC before a couple times each.    Its got to make his life a mess.

honestly I have never ordered from him before and I did not add everything up if that's a problem I will take my business elsewhere no biggie.  His prices are good though but not that good to put up with no service.  Audiophools pay premium prices for premium products and should get premium service IMHO

I have ordered from Percy many times and have had no problems at all. He has checked on special items and got back to me in a timely manner..
I simply do this.. Send an e-mail with my order.. Print out the e-mail write a personal check and send in the mail.. Order is to me within a week tops..   :D
Can't say I have any positive things to say about Parts connection.. I try to avoid those people..  :(

Josh,
Actually I have done that as after thought or added items.. Just send another E-mail and check.. Once I think he sent the additional items before he received the second check.. But, it does keep the browsing factor down.

For caps, you can also try referenceaudiomods.com, just placed an order Sunday try some 100v 470uf Rubycon ZL's and they seem to have a good selection of blackgates, Jensen 4-poles, etc.

EDIT:  Ha.. the caps arrived today, very fast.. although they're only 40 miles from me.

How does he stay in business?

"My apologies - we will be closed from 12/16 until 12/26, and I am unable to fullfill your request at this time. Our email volume has completely overwhelmed us lately and resulted in a large backlog. In order to have any chance of handling incoming orders on our reopening after Christmas, I must completely clear out any emails presently in the queue. If your inquiry is of continuing interest, please resend it on 12/26 or the days after. Please do not send it now, as all emails we receive in the next ten days will be returned.

If I have already replied to your request, please ignore this message, other than to note our vacation period.

Thank you for our patience and have a happy holiday season.

I've ordered many parts from Percy on many occasions and I'm totally satisfied with the service.

Percy has a downloadable pdf that I find to be a very useful instant source of info and his range of available parts ususally covers what I want.

On despatch, an email is sent to the buyer including a photo of the consignment in paid envelope. It's a nice touch.

If he goes on holiday and shuts the shop ...  :D ... more people should follow the lead. Life is more than 24/7 work.

I've had the same experience - have tried on 3 different occasions to order from him and each time had to wait a very long time only to get a mail suggesting that if the items were of continuing interest I should resend.  Of course within the wait time, in all instances, I was able to get truly outstanding service from Sonic Craft, Chris VenHaus and Welborne Labs for various items and would recommend those sellers most highly.  Still, he does have some interesting stuff at pretty good prices...

I have found the best way to order from Parts Connexion is to phone them. It's toll free and you just give them the sku #'s and a couple hours later they send you an email confirmation.
Being in the same province as them, I usually get my orders within 2 days.
