This is a performs-way-past -its-price cartridge, BUT, the Grado likes a lower input impedance than standard 47K- it performs best into 10K. This involves soldering a resistor across the preamp input in parallel. Van Alstine can tell you the value of the resistor and where to hook it up, or the info is available on their website in the Audio Basics back issues- check the index, it's one of the first topics they covered, under "Cartridge Loading".
