This is a performs-way-past -its-price cartridge,  BUT, the Grado likes a lower input impedance than standard 47K- it performs best into 10K.  This involves soldering a resistor across the preamp input in parallel. Van Alstine can tell you the value of the resistor and where to hook it up, or the info is available on their website in the Audio Basics back issues- check the index, it's one of the first topics they covered, under "Cartridge Loading". I think you'll be pleased.

I like mine, but haven't done any A/B testing.  The guy at the aud io shop who installed it and set up my TT said it sounded better than any of the cartridges he had tested under $200 or so.  If you don't like it, you can send it back.

The only thing I don't like about it is the bar across the front prevents me from using my record clamp.  I didn't think that was a big deal but if you have a clamp that you must use, you may not have enough room with the Longhorn.
