Terry Cain has passed away
« on: 11 Dec 2006, 05:54 pm »
I just opened an email with this as the subject.

From the Response Audio family, our hearts go out to Leslie and all of Terry's family. The audio industry lost a great designer and the world lost a great man.

I just wanted to make note that Response Audio will continue to leave it's products available to the Terry Cain benefit for as long as it is moving forward.
With my family being in this situation before, I realize Terry's wife Leslie will have a rough road ahead of here.
Srajan, if you read this, I want to thank you for doing such a fine job of putting the benefit together.

I had hoped that Terry would pull threw but it was not to be. Its a shame, we lost another good one in Terry but his passion still lives on. Like fine art, the Cain & Cain speakers will be out there spreading joy for generations to come.

Lou Gehrig's and Lyme together?   My deepest condolences to the family and I hope C & C survives as a company.  I have been wanting to try the wall-o-sound speakers down the line.

Words are always inadequate when someone is faced with great pain and loss.  I would like to believe that the creation of the fund and the outpouring of support was and is some small degree of comfort to Mr. Cain and to his widow and family.
The reality is that bills must be paid.  I urge all those contributors to the fund to leave their goods and services in the fund.  I myself, made a small monetary contribution, and I'll be dammed if the music didn't sound that little bit sweeter afterwards.

I'm sorry to hear this.  While I never met him, I did see/hear some of his work at the RMAF.  It seems like everyone who knew him had nothing but good things to say.  My condolences to his family.

I was posting the donation to Srajan from Era speakers when I heard he was given only hours on Saturday.  I will continue to work another manufacturer for a donation, and keep Terry's 6moon banner flying as long as their is equipment to auction.

I received the news only moments after I posted another product for the benefit as well.

Very sad news. Although I've never met him or heard any of his speakers ( I really wanted to but never had a chance) When I set out to build my own Single Driver speaker I did some research and Terry early work and experimental single driver and info had been very useful for me. In turn my current DIY TQWT Single driver speaker had some influences from his early works.

There aren't many like him around.... a hi-ef Single Diver speaker designer and a master carpenter. :( Condolences to his family.

Take care,
Buddy

Sad news indeed.  I only met him once and spoke a few times on the phone, but he was one of those people you instantly liked.  I'm sure he will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and audio community.
