New Norah Jones

Anyone looking forward to Norah's new one?  I liked the first one pretty well; it wasn't brilliant, but I bought it the week it came out.  It grew on me before the hype set in.  The second one was a bit of a letdown to me, though.

I definitely am. Although I'm not usually a big fan of the soft, jazzy female vocals, something about Norah really clicks with me. I remember hearing (just before her first album came out I think) her on NPR in the morning, on my way to high school senior year. "Don't Know Why" came on, and I was just stunned. I too bought it as soon as I could and I still put it on to relax. There's parts of the second one I like, but overall I agree that it's weaker than the first. Both albums are quite nice HiFi pieces too; not flashy or over the top with imaging and dynamics or anything, but they really have defined instrumentation and clear crips vocals, and are just very pleasing to put on.

I absolutely can't wait.  Amazon has a preorder for $9.88
I use Norah's first album as a reference for my system.
It's well recorded and her vocals are spot on.

You can get this one right now.  http://www.amazon.com/Little-Willies/dp/B000E6UJXS  It's better than the second but not as good as the first in my book.

Can't stand her music  :?    Every stupid commercial on television has to feature her music

This is a good one, too:

Yes, I agree. I have all four of these discs and Peter Malick with Norah is the best of the bunch.

I agree that the second solo album was a let down but the first album was great.  The Peter Malick SACD is wonderful and The Little Willies is growing on me.  But I'll probably wait until it comes out on vinyl.

Maybe I should listen to the Little Willies again.  I heard a track on the radio before it came out, liked it OK and was looking forward to the album.  Our library got it & I was the first one to check it out, but was extremely disappointed in it-it seemed rather pedestrian to me.  I'd rank her second album about the Little Willies in my view.  Norah Jones sounds real good on the Malick album, but I think the Malick band is nowhere near her talent level.

A friend loaned me his copy of the latest NJ album. I had to kill it half way through track one. Bad, real bad. May give it a try again later.
