Magnetically shielding subwoofers
« on: 10 Dec 2006, 02:21 am »
I'd like to place my tv on top of my two original subs. (after I install the new woofers that have been in the closet for months...)

I know I saw a thread about putting a steel plate on top (or inside?)but have not been able to find it.

John

(sorry for the email Mr. Casler ,I did receive  emails from audiocircle to reset my password but they were in the junk mail folder :duh: :duh:

Even a thin barrier of permeable material such as steel will deflect stray field from permanent magnets such as those in our Subwoofers.  Any metal shop can help and many large hardware stores have what you need.
While leaded steel is the most effective, standard sheet steel works fine.

18 to 20 gauge is fine.
