Quiet about 968-
« on: 6 Dec 2006, 02:04 pm »
Hyperion 938 was a great sucess. People all over the world was celabrating the speakers.
When Hyperion released the new topmodel 968 the expatations were high. But it has been very quiet around those speakers. My friends has trying to get in touch with Hyperion but no answer. You can´t find a single review on 968. Who come????

I can´t buy the new 968 because no one in scandinavian i intressted to sell it because no one had heard a thing abou it.

Hyperion 938 has one of the best midrange i have ever heard. But the bass and treble is not in the same leauge. They are also good but not as good as the midrange. If this is improved in the 968 it could be my dream speaker. But i can´t find any information........

In my personal system i use both the 938 and the Talon Raven C (well this last one has been modified with external crossovers rebuilt with top quality components).
The midrange transparency and imaging of the Hyperion is clearly ahead but the Raven have incredible bass, deep and quick, and the Accuton tweeter has very low distorsion, i couldn't choose between them...

I just received the 968 this morning, it's one of the first time i'm so impressed by a speaker just taken out of the box, not even broken in.
The 968 bass seems to be nearly as deep as the Talon, the treble adjustement is very useful and the overall sound is a bit fuller and more natural, transparency and air seems to be a bit above the 938 too.

The speaker just worked for 5 hours... i wonder what will happen in the coming days / weeks  :o

My Talon are for sale.
The 968 bass quality is incredible, very clear, articulate, deep (maybe not as deep as the Talon but not too far) and fast.

Perhaps, a formal review would be nice.

Still no pro review. Strange and very sad. By this time the 938 had won a lot of prices after one year on the market. But it´s is deadly quiet about the 968. Is there any problem with the model or the company?

Not to worry.  6moons.com will be reviewing the 968 soon.  Will be interesting because they have reviewed the 938s in the past so I'm pretty sure they will do a comparison between the two models.

A dutch hifi magazine "vi-fi" will review the 968 in the near future.
I heard it from a hifishop , they also sold a 968 to a ex-938 owner.
