upgrading from sp1.7 to the sp2
« on: 5 Dec 2006, 07:09 am »
i'm wondering if anyone out there can give some advice on weather or not i should upgrade from sp1.7 to the sp2
I've heard nothing but good things about the sp2, also i read the raving review in stereophile magazine and i also got wind through this audiocircle that it's the runner up of the year and it's standing next to 19,000 pre/pro.

is this sp2 really that great in the audio domain, I'm really happy with my 1.7 and it sounds good especially in the 2 channel bypass and what it does for movies i just can't explain it the sound seems like it's coming from my walls and not the speakers.

so can anyone give me some sound advice on this matter.
it will be greatly appreciated if any one can help me reach this musical nirvana adventure that we all seem to be on.

Hi,

Much better sounding in Mch with the SP2 (and digital 2ch also)...
It got's faster response (that's the big thing !), greater analysis and just sounds easier !
I'm just THAT HAPPIER with it, you should go for it !!! :thumb:

No votes ? That's surprising.

I wonder how many have upgraded?  Perhaps the number is small.  I'm much more into music so I'm waiting for the HDMI issue to get resolved (if that's a year that's OK) so my SP 1.7 does not have to go out twice.  I'm due for a new projectior anyway as my Sharp 9000 will be 5 yrs. old in less than 3 mos.  It has no HDMI and only about 1,200 hrs. on the orig. bulb (I think the life is 2,000) as I'm not a huge TV show watcher.  By the time Bryston gets to it, many of the display devices will have HDMI 1.3 as well.  My bedroom TV is a 1st generation LCD (almost 14 inches deep) that only has no digital inputs and will only do 480p.  I'm not yet invested in either HD DVD and Blu-Ray and not in a rush at all.  I'll continue to buy std. definition DVDs and start my thinking about the subject of other formats and display devices after the SP 1.7 gets upgraded.
