No problem. I can grind a flat spot on the metal shaft on the selector switch. I though I was being a bonehead and really missing something on setting up the selector switch! Peace. Robert
First try your knobs without bothering to file/grind a flat. While the
Grayhill selector switch seems a tad stiff, I've found that it works fine
with the two knobs I've tried without having a flat and without having
to torque down on the set screws. On the flip side, there's no time
like the present to work the shaft. (Especially if you haven't soldered
the switch to the PCB yet.)
As an aside, for difficult shafts there's a collet style fastener which
some knobs use -- even small knobs. If you've ever used a (wood
working) router or shaper table, it's the same principle: a collet
which holds the router bit. Those puppies are like pit bulls and do
not let go! (I've seen them used with great success in heavy use
scenarios, such as hands-on science exhibits in museums.)
