PREFERRED REVIEWERS: PART ONE OF THREE
« on: 2 Dec 2006, 11:45 pm »
I'm truly interested in which magazines and reviewers members of Audiocircle trust the most. I'd like to have this newest speaker in our catalog, Angelus, reviewed by a magazine and a reviewer that people consider trustworthy. While I know many reviewers personally and think that they have impeccable integrity ... at the end of the day, it is the reader that must trust them.

So - let's start first with magazines: PRINT or ONLINE

Once we settle this issue, we'll move on to which ones (Part 2) and which reviewers (Part 3)

Looking forward to your opinions!

Chris

Print vs online isn't a very useful poll IMO, why not jump straight to polling on specific publications?

Because they are too numerous! If I can cut things down to Print or Online it will be easier to poll for the specific ones.

In print there are at least a dozen to choose from, from the biggies to the newsletters. Online is at least as numerous. Let's narrow the field, first. Besides ... who's in a rush?

I would say both....but I lean towards online.
I've been a reader of Stereophile for a long, long , time (80's)....comes every month.
I look at the cover, glance through it, and put it on the pile of past issues....and never really read it. It's much easier reading reviews online..... 8)

Interesting poll... You may want to add "none of the above" as an option to the followup polls, so that everybody can vote regardless of their opinion. Then they can see the results as well without having to make an extra click.

Hi John,

I'd add the "none of the above option" except it wouldn't be useful to me. The point of the poll is to narrow the field so that a review of our new Angelus loudspeaker can be had by someone who has essentially been voted as the most trusted professional audiophile reviewer. "None of the Above" won't help us to determine that.

Hi Chris,

I think there are advantages to each, some of them not mutually exclusive, but online seems to have the edge when it comes to turnaround. Print mags seem to have more cachet, and always have the advantage of portability (my stack of mags and books in the W.C. is testament to that). Then again, hardcore onliners that feel the need to read can always print out to hard copy and take with.

I've got my own list of favorite reviewers and the few people I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw them, but this isn't about me ... it's about which mags and reviewers you guys trust.

I would also have "Both" as an option.

OK, now we've got BOTH as an option - diluting as it may be. Kind of like Ralph Nader ... can't win but he can help someone to lose.

OK - looks like ONLINE is the preferred method - we don't need to go further, although I'm a little disappointed in only 18 votes. Perhaps when we toss out the individual names we'll be able to get more Audiocirclers interested in the poll ... PART the LAST coming up!
