Eventually I'd like to run dual subs also. Could you do this with just a RCA splitter on the center channel?

Raja, seems you could do that for dual mono, right?
I asked about using the center channel for a powered sub at Audio Karma, and about modding it for stereo.

Tube integrated.
Zanden 600.
Its costly yeah, but very good in the tone compartement, not stopping in the treble
and going deep deep with good impact.
One can see it for sale once in a blue moon.
Worth every penny asked for them those babies.
Audiomat is also a good choice, and Aronov.

Got the 222C running. Using diy speakers - Hawthorne Augie and Fostex 108ez on OB, not idealized xo just parts on hand, 1st order electrical, guessing 300 hz. Approx. 88db.
Playing Dave Weckl Band Live for it's dynamic club jazz, a good high octane system test - electric bass and drum solos by musicians out to impress. Amp handle it well, sub will fix the softer low end.
So the amp has the tube atmosphere I wanted which is great. Spreads the music kindly and effortlessly around the room. That alive and breathing feeling, more than just a recording. Softer than the gainclone, maybe less dynamic as it's rounder on the attack. I prefer it over gc for the life it brings to the playback.
Volume past halfway starts getting pretty loud, even with < 90db speakers- not a big room tho.
Going to try some other speakers - Coral Flat 6's, woofers from Dynaco A-25's with Scanspeak tweeters. Will have an ss powered 12" mltl sub fairly soon (Jan.).
What do you guys with this amp use for speakers?

Don,

I'm using the Hawthorne Coaxes - very good synergy.
Have you tried out the phono stage? - it REALLY brings music to life.

The rebuild/mods that Ryan at Hotglass did to my 222 tightened up the bottom end some.
Still not damped like a sand amp, but nice texture and tone.

Brad,
I could see the SI's working well. I'd like a 10" or 12" coax, I'll be looking around. This seller has some JBL L88, 100's, and 16 ohm EV 12trxb's.
I did bring my old Harmon Kardon TT out from storage. Nothing special and hasn't been played for many years but I saw some mods Frank Van Alsine did to his similar model, might go for them.
I contacted Ryan and am looking into his mods.

Songforyou, thanks for the tip on tubes. I may try the EH EL84. this one is all JJ's, maybe making it softer than it needs to be.
Brad and Raja - what tubes have you tried?
Thanks guys I'll try not to pester too much on the details.

Don,

Ryan, at Hot Glass Audio, restored my LK-48 and it will be here sometime next week. It came with  (4)Telefunken 12AX7's and (2) 6U8's but was lacking the rectifier tube 5AR4 and the power tubes which are 7189's, close cousins to the EK-84. Ryan will replace the missing tubes with some Russian tubes.

I believe that you can use 7189's with your 222 but I'm not sure.

I hope that my Omega Super 3 Bipoles (96db) will have excellent synergy with the Scott but I will know sometime in next couple weeks.

I've got 7189s for power tubes (RCAs maybe - will check), the original Telefunken 12ax7's in the preamp section, and the rectifier is a Mullard that HotGlass provided.
