Folks,

I'm starting this thread to find a few ideas on good cases available in the US at moderate cost.  The thread is in response to a request from Dario in New Jersey, but it's universal.  I'm quite keen on the Par-metal 20 series 'table case', number 16123X.  It's 3" tall, 16" wide, and 12" deep - large enough internally to accommodate the 55W heatsink for a neat, clean look.  It's available with anodized or painted black front panel, 1/8" thick, and black paint elsewhere.  Prices look good around $US60 mark.  Par-metal is in Arlington, NJ.

Do those who have travelled this road have any advice?

I just received a Par-Metal 20 series case for an amp i'm building. The quality is quite nice for the price. The nicest DIY cases i've seen are at ATI Research. They're not based in the US and are not cheap, but are an alternative for those that have money to spend.

I like the Lansing Instruments cases for nice mid-priced enclosures.  They have every conceivable size, are available in black or silver, have a side vent option, and the finish is first rate.  Ordering can be a little daunting, but once you wade into the size and configuration charts, it is pretty easy to determine their model numbering scheme.  All the panels are detachable (they ship flat) and, therefore, it's easy to drill and mount components.  The "B" style is very good for audio toys and the product looks better than portrayed in their drawings:

Thanks very much.  It's a full-blown LM 3875 kit using Plitron transformers.  Same parts as the four-box Patek set up all in one enclosure.  But enough of that, the case is really good and I thought your guys may be interested.  Here's the front (My name is Henry and I'm powerless over handles ):

Toride, elegant, as only the Italians can, but probably very expensive and difficult to get to the US/UK, certainly to Australia.
