I just scored a box of 90 NOS Tungsol tubes off ebay.  They are a mixed lot of random tubes that most audiophiles probably wouldn't know what they are, but that is what tdsl.duncanamps.com is for.  I paid $40 + shipping ($10 but also acquired some 01A and 71A tubes too in that).  Whos says you can't get a good deal on ebay?

Amongst the lot are a 6CG7, a 6BLGTA, some rectifiers and a whole bunch of vertical amplifier tubes, many of which make great alternatives to 12AX7's (more gm).  Not too many pairs but beggers can't be choicers.

  I am in the market for a pair of ecc82 / 12au7s and possibly a pair of ecc81 / 12at7s   when you start scrapping though the bottom of the box.   Gotta be fun going through them.

I dont' think I have any of those in here (those are pretty vanilla audio/guitar tubes).  Plus since I don't have any of those I'd probably keep them if I had em.

Good Job Josh!  That's a heck of a score. And yes you can get good deals on Ebay. They're not common but very doable. I've gotten a number of excellent deals on Ebay. This weekend would be a good time as alot of people aren't into it this weekend.  You never know anyway as I've seen things sell for way less and way more than usual.
That's alot of good tubes for 40 bucks.

I use 6CD6 'sweep' tubes (they got nipples on them for attaching a cap and wire to them) in my vintage monoblocks.  I can find them (cheap, too), but if you have them and the price is right....

I'll look to see if I got any.  Most sweep tubes are cheap, many of them provide better performance than the 6922 or 12A_7 families.

Nice score Josh (coming from a true tube hoarder myself)

Just last week I picked up one of the monster RCA tube caddies loaded with tubes. With mine, I also scored about a half dozen, high voltage multi-section caps too.

I've seen a few of those go down.  I might bid on one in a few days.   Now I know who to come to if I need to swap some tubes for pairs.
