WBT analog output connectors now available for SB mod

I have had some requests from time to time for an upgrade to the Cardas output connectors I normally use.

I have finally figured out a way to install the WBT NextGen connectors for the analog outputs.

If you are interested in this upgrade, please e-mail me or PM me.

If there is enough interest, I will add this option to the website.

For now, it is special request only.

The Silver WBT NextGen used for analog outs would add $85.00 installed, for a pair, to the regular mod price. The WBT Gold Plated Copper for analog outs would add $48.00 for a pair, installed.

A Silver WBT NextGen can also be upgraded to from the standard WBT Gold Plated Copper used in the digital output. The upgrade cost would be $20.00.

There can be a "problem" using the NextGen female connectors with Eichmann Bullet Plugs. The WBT ground connection is not continuous around the connector. The ground pin connection of the Eichmann "may" not make contact with the ground of the WBT. This can be solved by rotating the Eichmann on the WBT until the pin meets the ground.

Wayne,

Have you done any comparisons with various analog output connectors?

I would think a short list would include the following:

Cardas
Eichmann
Vampire
WBT

BTW, I just put my analog SB2 into the main rig...

Wayne,

How did you know that this was going to be my next question?

I started wondering about this yesterday afternoon and was going to be sending you an email about it next week.

You can count on me asking for this when I finally get to sending in my SB3, which shouldn't be too much longer now.

Thanks,

Jim

I have done a fair amount of comparison on some different RCA panel mount females.

My favorites are (in order of sonics):

WBT NextGen Silver
WBT NextGen Gold Plated Copper
Vampire Gold Plated Copper CM2F/CB
Cardas Rhodium Plated brass

The Cardas wins on value.
The WBTNextGen wins on best sound.
The Vampire is very sturdy, but is rather expensive and is a solid billet of copper.
I do prefer the sound of a connector with a minimum amount of metal.

For RCA cable mount males, The WBT NextGen Silver is on top.
The WBT NextGen Gold Plated copper is just a hair better (IMHO) then the Eichmann Silver Bullet Plug. Next is the Gold Plated Copper Bullet Plug. Then is everyone else

I recently received some WBT NextGen binding posts. I will be trying them out on an amp project soon. I like the sound of the Eichmann Cable pods but there may be some durability issues with them. The Superior Electric Gold Plated Binding Post are very good sounding for not a lot of money.

Wayne,
I ran in to contact problems with the nexgen also.
You should put Dh labs on your short list of connectors...
A must try!
