Hi Brad,
So are you putting together a new system?
Or are you just dreaming (in which case you have too much time on your hands

In system 1, what amp is that?  Never heard of it.
Who would do the mods on the sources?

Are there price limits, and do you know the total prices for these systems?

In system 2, wondered why you picked the Criterion over the Duliceo.

In general, if this was me, I would start by picking the "best" source I could afford.  After that, I would listen to as many speakers as I could, then pick the one I liked the best.  After that, it's finding an amp that can drive the speakers well, and a preamp that sounds like it is not there.  Pretty simple, right.

Just thinking out loud for a couple of years out.

The Korneff is a custom, 45-tube based amp, putting out about 2 wpc of SET goodness.

Several people are doing tuner mods - I'm sure Doug S can recommend one.   Modwright or Matthew Anker on the SACD mods.

The Diluceo would fit system 2 also.   I like both the full-range speaker sound and a good 2 way (ribbons are nice).  That's why I did two systems - both the low-powered, high efficiency, and the low efficiency, solid-state powered.   I might even go Triangle Celius in system #2.

I agree with you on the source choice - that's why the VPI Aries Scout is in both systems.   The Teres would be the option up.

Hi Brad,
I somehow missed your response.

I have been kind of thinking how a high efficiency speaker would sound with a nice SET.  The idea of either no xover, and having the xover very high (which is what ZU said they do) is appealing to me.  Not sure if I will ever go this route, but it's something I will check out one of these days.
