Is anyone driving a pair of SM 6.1's with a low power tube amp?  I notice these are 90db/Watt.  How does the sound compare with a pair of 6.9's?

Better late than never?  Maybe.

Anyway, just to say my SM 6.1s sound superb to my ears driven by nOrh's SE9.  I life in a flat (apartment to the rest of the world) and so never play music very loud through the speakers, though they can very easily get to neighbour-irritating levels.  Detail AND integration are terrific and my focus is always on the music itself, whatever the type.

So, an excellent combination, in my book.

I've driven my sm6.9's with the little wave-8's with good results.  Of course this was low to medium volume and they don't give the bass like a Stratos.  The 6.9's are 86dB.

I've driven the Marble 9.0 with Wav-8.  It was probably a 20'x20'x10 room.  It drove them fine at "normal" listening levels, but of course couldn't play any louder and of course on more dynamic passages didn't sound as impactful.

Was it listenable? Yes.  Did I ever wish I could have more power from the wav-8? Yes.  But I do like to listen to music loudly.
