Help: Bryston BP26 remote is eating batteries!
« on: 22 Nov 2006, 07:38 pm »
Hello,

At the end of July I upgraded my Bryston B100 SST with a 3BSST and a BP26, both purchased new from an authorized dealer (they have been built "on demand").

Except from a fuse of the MPS2 that died after a couple of days, everything worked fine until this Friday. It's a great combo and I love it but it is happening something weird.

I had to change the battery in the BP26 remote for the second time in less than four months, pretty unusual. So I walked to the store, I bought a new battery, replaced it. Remote was back to life as expected.

But after two days the battery was empty. I thought they gave me a defective battery so I bought a new one, from another brand.

Same story. After two days, battery empty.

Unlucky with batteries? I do not think so. My wife bought other two batteries of two different brands in a different store.

Same thing. Batteries died after two days.

I checked to see if the green light of the remote is turned on showing some button is kept pressing but there is nothing. In order to see it on I have to press a button (volume, phase, mute).

Anyone had or is having the same problem? What I have to do?

Thanks

Nicola

To check if the infrared is perhaps transmitting all the time you can look at the business end of the remote with a digital camera (using the little LCD viewer monitor). CCDs are typically sensitive to infrared light.
