I just pulled in from work and on the way home I stopped at my favorite flea market. One vendor always has old radios, tubes and electronic junk. Got lucky today, I found a RCA tube caddy full of tubes so I grabbed it. As I wandered through the rest of his space, I noticed he had some new (old) electronics magazines out. Needless to say, I couldn't resist buying them.

This is the cover from the June 1949 Radio - Electronics Magazine. When I saw it, I knew I had to share 





Oh, and they've even got schematics....






Now what I want is to build one of these things using (rather than batteries), a pair of beam tubes. I want a hat that puts out 200 watts per channel. I want 1200 volts going snap-crackle-pop right above my bald little cranium......and then I want to touch (certain) people and see their facial expression just before they spontaneously combust.

Oh, if I could just have my way.......

   The article and schematic is too small for me to read. But it look like something that could be easily put together today.

Well, I've picked them up for as little as $15. This one I paid $65 for. You're right, most of them are loaded with TV tubes. This one isn't much different but I was able to scavenge about a 20 decent audio tubes plus some NOS multi-section high voltage caps for future projects. Last but not least the caddy itself. This one is one of the largest caddy's I've run across. The condition is probably 6 or 7 out of 10.

I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Granted, this time I didn't sift though and find handfuls of Telefunkin's or Mullards (which I've done before) but it was worthwhile.
