I talked with Danny about the differences.
They share the same sort of sonic window.
OB's may be slightly ahead in the mids with them being boxless.
Where the line source pulls ahead, if you have a big room and can sit far enough away, is that of lower distortion, the OB's seem pretty low to me, and of the LS to reproduce a square wave.
In that, if a drum is struck both will give you the effect, but the LS will make you feel it more. It will seem a bit more real.
The LS also play louder, with more dynamic headroom.
Myself, I don't want tall monsters in my room. I lived with very tall speakers, the Acoustat 1+1's are almost 8' tall. The OB's are easy to live with.
But if you are hard core, have the room, want the macho presence of a line array, you will have something very special.
