High/low filter on Ultra EC...any negative effects?
« on: 13 Nov 2006, 10:19 pm »
Anyone here use the high/low/rumble (whatever you want to call it) on the Ultra EC preamp? If so, did you note any residual noise or otherwise unwanted effects when it is engaged? I ask because I've seen some nicely-performing external models around for a reasonable price, and since I'm saving money to get the Ultra EC I wanted to know if the built-in option is the best way to go. I don't have any doubts as to Frank's abilities but I've never seen it mentioned anywhere, so I had to ask!  8)

The high/low filter is a simple passive 6 dB per octive filter that will have no sonic effect other than a gentle low and high frequency roll-off, useful for bad source material.

Thanks Frank! Sorry for being dense, but does it act similarly to a 'rumble' filter for vinyl playback? As in, cuts off below 20hz or what have you.
