Robin McKelle

I've been listening to "Introducing Robin McKelle" for the last couple days and I'm really liking it.  For those who haven't heard her, she's a jazz singer working the 30's & 40's sounds.  Very old-school.  She has a really good voice and a polished delivery, but of course sort of the anti-Holly Cole.  Highly recommended if you like that style of jazz.

HUGE BUMP....

I just discovered her today Rob. Still haven't been able to hear her, but am going to buy a disc or two of hers based soley on reviews and comparisons of her to other female vocalists. Funny you mentioned Holly Cole, as I started a thread just today and mentioned Holly as a "reference point" vocally speaking to another female singer.
Has anybody else heard of Mrs. McKelle?
I have my eye on the "Modern Antique" and "Introducing" compact discs.

p.s. Rob, sorry it took me so long to reply to your original post. I've been in the bathroom.

Yea, I'm feeling much better now thanks. Just a minor blockage thing.

Wind Chaser, I did watch that video dispite the fact my PC here at work doesn't have speakers.
But with the reviews and comparisons I read plus the "style" she exudes on that video was enough to get me to buy a couple CD's.

Where my new office is, I can stare at a half dozen other employees, and a waiting room full of customers. I've arranged my monitor so nobody can see it (anymore), but they could hear speakers. Head/earphones would be to obvious as to me doing something "not work related".

I've had the Introducing Robin McKelle CD for a while and she is awesome.  I'll take a look for the Modern Antique.
Thanks

I too have both her albums after finding her on the Music Circle. Jazz is a big part of my library and female jazz vocals such as Robin MacKelle are my favorites. Emilie Clare Barlow is another stead favorite of mine :D

Cheers,
Robin

Heard her on RadioIO Jazz last night and I must agree that she is quite special! Usually I don't scroll my SB3 screen to see who is singing but when she came on air, I was wondering to myself who the singer was and this prompted me to check. Robin? Isn't that a guy's name?  Hmmm ... anyway she sounds very good!

Best Regards
