Pioneer Elite Receivers Demonstrate the Value of Advanced Pro cessing
Feature-Rich Receivers Offer Single Cable Connectivity, Auto Room Tuning
LONG BEACH, Calif., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today introduced the VSX-55TXi and VSX-53TX Pioneer Elite digital audio/video receivers offering audio enthusiasts the latest in digital processing, room tuning and high-resolution multi-channel audio reproduction. The VSX-55TXi is the second receiver from Pioneer that allows advanced high-resolution multi- channel digital interface (i.LINK) for DVD-Audio and SACD connectivity.
"Audio and video enthusiasts know that the combination of a great television with a fabulous DVD player doesn't mean anything without the advanced processing power of a strong receiver. Our Pioneer Elite receivers deliver on the promise of advanced technology. By incorporating an i.LINK connection for single-cable audio connectivity, we're showing that you can have it all -- convenience and superior technology," said Russ Johnston, senior vice president of marketing for home entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.

Auto Room Tuning

The VSX-55TXi and VSX-53TX receivers provide a refined multi-channel acoustic calibration system (MCACC) for optimum accuracy in multi-channel sound reproduction. The calibration system works by measuring the acoustic characteristics of the listening area and neutralizing the ambient characteristics that can "color" the original source material. First the MCACC uses the microphone provided to check and test ambient noise levels, the microphone, and speaker level. Once the initial set-up calibration is complete the system automatically confirms size of the speakers that are hooked up to the receiver and distance to the listener, then performs a surround analysis. Finally, MCACC checks the channel delay and channel level, before performing the acoustic calibration. During the acoustic calibration process, the speakers will emit a series of pink noise and timing pulses that are received by the microphone and sent to a nine-band digital equalizer for final calibration of up to seven channels. Both receivers provide an advanced MCACC offering all-channel 96/24 analog to digital conversion allowing for manual settings if preferred.

Pioneer Elite receivers offer equal amplifier power to all channels, eliminating the possibility of one channel dominating a particular sound field. All amplifiers are of discrete Mosfet configuration for low distortion and are capable of handling any surround format. Both receivers offer THX-Select(TM), Dolby Digital EX(TM), DTS-ES(TM), Dolby Pro Logic II(TM) and NEO-6(TM) surround processing.

Built Like A Tank

Both the VSX-55TXi and VSX-53TX have extra large extruded aluminum heat sinks, a frame reinforced isolated chamber, single and double layered transformer stabilizer, gold insulator and aluminum front panel, all indicators of the exceptional quality construction for which the Pioneer Elite brand is known.

The VSX-55TXi and VSX-53TX will be available in July at a suggested retail price of $1,700 and $1,500 respectively.

That'll be a nice improvement to the mid-line Elite receivers. But I see no mention of the 47TX. I wonder if they're dropping it?

I wonder when they'll update the 49TXi? I'd love to get a 49TXi on closeout...
