rocket rs750 vs ob5 and 7

Since Danny was involved in various designs in these; would it be worth adding SOCS and ninja crossovers to my beloved 750's or just build a new set of GR ob5's or 7's.  Like to hear about anyone's experiences and especially Danny's thoughts.....Thanks

If you own the RS750's then I highly recommend upgrading the crossovers. It will take those speakers to another level of performance and make them very enjoyable to listen to.

They are not however, on the same performance level as an OB-5 or OB-7. Those are very different by design and are an apples and oranges comparison. The OB-7 uses a planar magnetic tweeter crossed low to open baffle mounted midbass woofers, multiple lower end woofers and a powered 12" sub. Fully assembled the OB series speakers would also be considerably more expensive than the RS750.

I've got a friend who has a pair of 750's...he needs to do this upgrade.  Is this something from AV123 or something you sell Danny?

I appreciate your expertise Danny; Guess my other question would be whether to invest in the 750 SOCS to bring them up to the ob's quality or take that money towards the ob's.  Thanks

I'd upgrade the crossover before investing in SOCS for that model. It will make far more difference. Even with SOCS it is not going to be on the same performance level as an open baffle design like the OB-5 or OB-7. That's still not a fair comparison.

Danny what would be the discernable difference between the the two flavors of 750 crossovers?

Which two flavors? Stock networks, Ninja's or Ninja Master's.  :icon_lol:

There is definitely a difference there in resolution easily noticed on a high end system. If your electronics are entry level or mid-fi it might be a difference more subtle to hard to even notice.

Thanks for the input. I have a pair of ninjas on order and keep wondering if I made the right choice. I am only running HK635 at the moment and really only have upgrade plans to include a seperate amp (Emotiva lite). Sounds like as long as I am not running high end tubes or something I am in for a great experience.
