Passive Pre + Musical Fidelity X-10V3?
« on: 31 Oct 2006, 05:17 am »
Hi,
Has anyone used a Musical Fidelity X-10V3 with a Stratos variant?

I definitely want to go forward with a home-brew passive pre-amp based on lab grade 10 turn linear mono pots (with vernier fronts) and a 4 pole switch selector, but I'm convinced some of my sources will struggle with the pot load combined with the low input impedance of the Mono Extremes I'm interested in.   The only way forward seems to be a good buffer, and this looks like a good low cost option.

Anyone try the MF X-10v3 with some of Klaus' handywork?  How's the synergy?

Thanks,
Dave

PS Klaus, glad to hear you're in reasonable shape after the car incident.

Thanks Dave.
Reasonable is the right word.
Anyway,  even though we have over 4000 total products out there, and even though I record any feedback of any system combinations in a database,  I don't have one for you.  However,  my gut feeling tells me that it works just great.

You can always try.

Late,

Klaus
