Another Dennis Murphy design that looks awesome.  For those who don't know, Dennis is one of the most talented crossover/speaker designers who is highly respected in the DIY community.  He designed the crossovers for the Ellis 1801 (Dave works his magic putting them together and making beautiful cabinets).  These use woofers that are very similar to the 1801's and tweeters that are found in the amazing Criterions from GR Research.  Very cool looking design, I wish I could hear them!  Stunning cabinets.

PS- I don't know how to post pictures so if one of the non-idiots out there can help, I would appreciate it!

They are definitely cool.  If I recalled correctly from Jim's initial post about them, they use a waterfall bubinga veneer he got on eBay and have solid wood baffle.

So is that a normal model that a guy could actually buy or a one-of he made for someone?

Rob,

While Jim sells kits (www.selahaudio.com) I think this is one he made for himself to see what he could do with that pair of drivers.  I think he's quite happy with the results, so maybe it will be added to the list of kits he sells.

Those babies would look sweet in Rosewood or Rose Mahagany.  Wonder what they'd set a guy back?

They remind me of a cross between the Ellis 1801 and some Joseph Audio monitors.

Sando, you are a hoot!

I agree there is soooommme small resemblance to a birdhouse, but if they sound as good as I suspect, I wouldn't mind if they looked like an outhouse!  I suspect the shape is not purely asthetics and has some functional benefits related to refraction.  That tweet sure is sweet and the Excel is one of the best mids on the planet.  I bet it sounds pretty darn good.

PS: I was going to call it: "what happens when you cross an 1801 with a Criterion..."

    Holy crap!  :o

That idea actually may be worth looking into!  Get some inexpensive decent drivers and build the cabinets to look like an outhouse...I like it.

oh...the Dennis Murphy speakers are nice lookin'!  bet they sound pretty darn good too.
