pro versus home versions
« on: 26 Oct 2006, 05:22 pm »
I have been offered a very decent used 14B-SST pro. From what I can tell, the one major difference between the pro and home versions is that former allows for attenuation of the input via two controls in the back of the unit. This is NOT a volume control but only a means for pro users to match the gain of the source to the power amp. I have three questions:

1) Is there any reason why the pro version should sound different than the home version due to this attenuation capability (or some other features that I do not know about)?

2) What about the Bryston 20-year warranty? Does it apply to a pro unit too?

3) Is there any reason I should not get a pro unit for home use?

Thanks

Hi vuongm,

The Pro unit is only available in Black 19 inch Rack-Mount cosmetics and has Gain/Volume controls in the circuit path.  I usually recommend the consumer unit if you want the cleanest, simplest circuit path and the pro if you need gain adjustment on each channel.

The warranty is the same on Pro and Consumer
